Create Your First Voice Agent

Go from sign-up to a speaking agent in a few minutes.

Before you begin

  • Use a modern browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari).
  • Be ready to allow microphone access.
  • Have your website’s main URL handy.

What this does

You’ll use the Quickstart Wizard to teach your agent from your website, choose a role (personality), and test it in the preview. The wizard automatically picks a good starting point for the first demo.

  1. Sign in

    • A new voice agent is created for you automatically.
    • The “Voice Agent Quickstart” wizard opens. You can also launch it later when you create a new agent from Overview.
  2. Add Knowledge (Website URL)

    • Enter your main website URL (for example: https://example.com).
    • We do a quick discovery to find pages and calculate how many pages can be added based on your plan.
    • Analysis starts in the background. Click Next.

    Notes:

    • Your current plan headroom is applied (pages per agent and monthly rate limits).
    • If you’ve reached your plan limits, you’ll be asked to upgrade or remove sources before continuing.
  3. Choose a Role

    • Pick a role (personality) to set tone and style.
    • While the “Analyzing your website… (~5–10s)” banner is visible, roles load and analysis completes.
    • Next becomes available when both are true: a role is selected and website analysis is ready.
  4. Learning in Progress

    • See live progress as pages are ingested into the Knowledge Base.
    • Next becomes available automatically when ingestion finishes.
  5. Go to Preview

    • Click Go to Preview to open the Preview Voice Agent section.
    • The wizard selects a homepage‑like summary as Starting Knowledge and applies it to your agent so you can test immediately.
    • Click the voice button, allow microphone access, and start talking.

Manual setup (without the wizard)

  • Train Voice Agent
    • Go to Train Voice Agent and choose one of:
      • Add Entire Website (Discovery + Ingestion)
      • Add Single Webpages (one URL at a time)
      • Add PDF
  • Configure Voice Agent
    • Choose a role (personality).
    • Starting Knowledge:
      • Click Use Manual Instructions to type your own, or
      • In Manage Knowledge Base, pick a summarized page and choose Use as starting knowledge.
    • (Optional) Adjust Greeting Instructions.
  • Preview Voice Agent
    • Open Preview Voice Agent, click the voice button, and allow microphone access.

What you should see

  • Discovery/ingestion progress, then new sources appear with status (processing → ready).
  • The agent greets you and uses your content once sources are ready.
  • In preview, the starting knowledge reflects the homepage summary chosen by the wizard (you can change this later).

Tips

  • Use a public site (no login) for crawling.
  • Start with your main URL; large sites can take longer—begin with key pages (FAQ, services, pricing).
  • You can cancel a running crawl and delete sources later.
  • Roles help set tone; pick the closest match and refine after testing.

Troubleshooting

  • “You have reached your plan limits…”
    • You’ve hit your per‑agent or monthly limits. Remove older sources or upgrade your plan, then try again. See also: Manage knowledge sources.
  • “Analyzing your website…” never clears
    • Check your connection and try again. If it fails, restart the wizard and re‑enter the URL.
  • Back button disabled
    • Back is disabled after analysis has started to keep limits and job state consistent.
  • No microphone prompt or it’s blocked
    • Check your browser site permissions.
  • No audio or no reply
    • See “Troubleshooting › No audio or response.”
  • Agent answers don’t reflect your content
    • Confirm sources show “ready.” Re‑crawl or re‑upload if content changed.

Next steps

  • Go Live › Configure allowed domains.
  • Go Live › Choose platform + get the code (HTML, WordPress, Wix, Squarespace, Lovable).
  • Keep teaching your agent in Train Voice Agent: Add Entire Website, Add Single Webpages, Add PDF.
  • Create more agents for sales and support (see: Using › Use Multiple Voice Agents).
